The Qube has become a well-known, trusted brand in Tenby over the years. Its owners and staff are passionate about making it an exciting and reliable place to dine.
Owner Matthew Ronowitz, born and bred in Pembrokeshire, sparked his passion for food and catering at the age of 13, where he got his first job washing up in the Blueberry’s restaurant. Little did he know that the building he was spending his days in would one day be his.
He spent several years working in the catering and hospitality industry before his work ethic and passion were acknowledged, leading to him becoming manager of Blueberries Café and Restaurant as just 17 years of age. Blueberries owners Matt and Ruth Goldwait were well regarded within the community for their business acumen and high quality food, and Matthew saw this as an opportunity to learn and nurture his interest in the industry, gaining as much experience as he could in front of house as well as in the kitchen.
But Matthew wanted to find more out about the world of food, which led him to moving to Worcester where he worked in restaurants and experienced new cuisine before spending some time in Val d’isere in the French alps. Inspired by the different food and culture he had experienced in his time away, Matthew returned to Pembrokeshire and worked alongside Chris and Annette Wooles at Redberth Lodge, known for their superb Sunday lunches, and then went onto the rustic seafood restaurant, the Stone Crab in Saundersfoot as chef where he was able to use his creative passions and ideas for good food.
Matthew bought The Reef restaurant in Tenby, rebranding it to become Ronni’z Winebar, until 2007, when he saw an opportunity to fulfil his dream of owning what is now known as The Qube, housed by the building that sparked his passion for food all those years ago. In the years that followed Matthew and his wife Claire worked hard to make the Qube a popular and exciting place for people to eat.
In 2010, following their successes at the restaurant, Matthew and Claire set up Tenby Hog Roast marking the beginning of Qube Catering. Seeing a gap in the market for a high quality outside catering company and taking time to understand the needs and wants of potential customers meant Tenby Hog Roast was an instant success.
Qube Catering has expanded rapidly over the past 18 months, now comprising of two vans, a mobile refrigeration unit and a lorry that is purpose-built to event catering. The Qube Catering calendar for the next 12 months is testament to their growing success both locally and nationally, with weddings every single week, hog roast events and a number of corporate events, working closely with the venues such as Woodhouse Barn, Manorbier Castle, Kiln Park, Tenby Harbour, St Catherine Island and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and many more.
The Qube team has grown to 30 employed staff, the majority of which are World Host qualified, and hold Food Hygiene and First Aid qualifications. The Qube Restaurant manager, Gill is a fabulous asset to the workforce receiving numerous testimonials of commendation for excellent customer service and encourages employees to improve knowledge, abilities and skills. A number of the team are currently studying for industry related NVQ qualifications from catering, customer service and management.
As wedding caterers, Qube Catering design bespoke menus tailored to the couple’s preferred tastes, dietary requirements and style. This has made them a popular choice for those who want a personal but stress free day. We also offer a mobile licensed bar service to events with the customers choice of drinks.
Last year, Qube Catering were approached by a self-catering company to provide a personal chef experience in holiday cottages. The personal fine dining experience allows the guests to order a bespoke menu to suit the party’s needs. From a continental breakfast served at their leisure to a multiple course dinner to entertain friends and family or a romantic evening, Qube Catering are bringing the luxury of dining at a great restaurant to you.
We now work closely with FBM Holidays, Coastal Cottages and other private holiday lets, throughout the busy seasons.
Qube Catering are proud to have worked with and catered for Olympic medalists, the BBC, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate, Activity Wales, Carlsberg UK, Bourne Leisure, Local council events and Valero Oil Refinery.
International events include IRONMAN Wales and Long Course Weekend as well as local events such as Tenby Blues Festival and Pembrokeshire Fish Week.
Over the last 18 months, the Qube have focused on the branding, the website and a marketing strategy, ensuring their website usability and social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) cater and appeal to the public and now have a good relationship with the local press.
With the re-brand of the Qube, the design, marketing and high quality images do a lot to ensure the quality service and food is reflected in these media outlets.

Matt and his colleague were prepared for the weather and their Gazebo was up in minutes, and they produced excellent food using own equipment. Better still they had their own plates and cutlery.
